Myrtle Beach Vacation Trip - December 26-30, 2008

Our Camping set up at the KOA at Myrtle Beach.
We stayed here 5 days and 4 nights.
Kylie and Ella in their motel room in Myrtle Beach. Kylie loved holding Ella. Randy and I camped at the KOA in Myrtle Beach. It was very nice weather and didn't even need to use our heater that much. We were only about a mile from Jamie's family and Landon, Haley and Ella.

Renea, Clayton and Ella - Clayton also loved holding Ella

We went to Apache Family Campground and fished off the longest pier on the east coast (1300 feet long) located in Myrtle Beach. They caught a number of sharks, a conch welk, a crab and a very small fish of some sort. Above is the whole crew fishing.

Landon and Haley enjoying the beach.

Kylie caught the first shark of the day. She need help from dad to pull it up.

Landon brought his dog, Bud, and Jamie brought his dog Winston. The motel allowed dogs in the rooms.

Ella's first beach trip. Had to get a picture of her at the beach.

Walking Broadway at the Beach where we ate dinner at Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville

Renea and Jamie

We also went miniature golfing at a very interesting place. It had 3 stories and we took the elevator on each story (for Ella's stroller). I have to admit that Landon beat all of us! I was competitive but gave up after about half way through the game. Randy and Landon stayed neck and neck with only 2 strokes apart. Landon did win though!!! Just wait till next time!!

Jamie's family and Randy and I went to Alligator Adventure. Kylie and Clayton got to touch a snake, tortoise, skink and the baby alligator below.

Randy and I stayed an extra day and spent the day at Charleston coming back to Myrtle Beach to our camper that night. It's only about 2 hours from Myrtle Beach. We took a historic tour by bus for 90 minutes and learned a lot about the city's history and old homes and their architecture. Well, worth the money to take the tour. You learn so much you would not know....a lot of movies were made there, scenes from Patriot and The Notebook. Randy and I then walked to City Market and ate at Bubba Gump's Shrimp Co. We also walked around the historic part of the city and got to see up close the homes and gardens.

There were lots of ladies and some men that made these sweetgrass baskets and sold them in the market. Very expensive baskets - Longaberger doesn't have anything on these artists. Small baskets ..$40 and up. Large baskets $400-500. Very popular art in the area and it's an honor to get one of these baskets for wedding gifts. SOOO....all I did was get a picture of them.

Randy is leaning near the bottom of the stairs at the beginning of City Market. It seems it goes on for blocks and blocks as booths of vendors sell all kinds of unique items.

One of the historic homes on the bus tour.

Walking in the historic district.
